James, appreciate your entering the discussion. I will be glad to take you up on your offer; I have a couple of handsets. On further thought I believe there's a way to integrate into Skype voicemail (with revenue) but the process put out last week is certainly not one that will drive adoption. Watch for a future post.

Hey Jim,

Sorry to read you're not a fan of SpinVox via Skype, the service limitations you point out are fairly valid and I think, overall - there's some room for improvement.

However - I'd love to pick you up one point:

"One has to question the overall value of and market need for having a text version of what starts out as a voice communication. If messages need to arrive via text, start with a PC (using email or even Skype SMS, for instance), a BlackBerry or other email-enabled mobile phone where the entire process involves text only."

The 'overall value of and market need' of our service is reasonably high, given that we've just currently converted our one hundred, millionth(!!!) voice to text conversion from a worldwide market that stretches across five continents and six languages.

But I'm really, really not here to beat chests or shout about achievements - ideally, I'd *love* to be able to set you up with a SpinVox Voicemail account for your non-skype handset (if you have one?) and let you see the benefits yourself.

I'd love to hear from you,

Cheers,

PS - I wrote this last year, it might help explain how useful receiving voice messages as text can be -

I've been using Spinvox on my mobile phone for roughly 2 years now and I absolutely love it. I think I've only ever listened to a small handful of voicemails where some words (from drunk friends in bars) haven't been picked up properly.

In real life, I've *never* had a voicemail take more than a single SMS, so perhaps testing and the real world are two different things?

I love not having to dial up my voicemail and what I love the most is if somebody leaves me a phone number in the voicemail, I can just "click" on it on my phone rather than trying to remember the number when I hear it and immediately trying to redial it before I forget it.

Sounds like there are a few issues to iron out, but I think you've missed the point of a great piece of functionality.
