If I used Boingo a lot - I would subscribe for 7.95 a month, (about 35 minutes (CDN$) of Skype access charges) for unlimited usage. Skype prices are steep, I am not sure why I would ever use it - email and Skype Voice calls (forwarded) come to my Blackberry, I would use Truphone or Mobivox (where I have a local access number) for international calls from my BB as well, as their is no Skype To Go in Canada... As hard as I try I can't think of a use case where I would absolutely have to be online and willing to pay those rates, and can't at the very least make a call or check something on my mobile.

Now if Skype/Boingo made the pricing at say 3.99$ for a day, I would probably exclusively use Boingo hotspots when traveling. But at this pricing scheme, I would just feel like I was being ripped off, and would probably never use it.

[...] The second major feature, Skype Access, provides WiFi access for your MacBook or MacBook Pro via any Boingo access point. While I’m told it has been tested at many of the over 100,000 Boingo hotspots worldwide, I could not get it to work at a local Canadian Starbucks listed as a Boingo hotspot location. But then, this is still beta (and the problem may be with Boingo’s interface with Bell Mobility). ([Update: on a March 19 visit to the same Starbucks, Skype Access worked with no problems.] [...]
